Online Research will Dictate Holiday Shopping this year

Holiday Toy Retail Shopping – NPD reports that shoppers will be more cautious and be doing careful online research study of toys to shop for this holiday season. Their survey suggests that consumers are planning to adjust how they shop for toys as gifts.

The study found that 61 percent of consumers polled would use online research as the primary means of researching their purchases and that “overall value for the price” and “special sale price” would be the top two influencers as to where they shopped.

According to the study, 45 percent of respondents to NPD’s Annual Holiday Survey 2009 said they were comparison shop before they buy, which is a five year high for the survey,  37 percent said they planned to buy “all” of their holiday gifts on sale; and 35 percent said they would use ads or circulars to guide their shopping.

Only 5 percent of shoppers said they would begin their holiday shopping “last minute.”

NPD’s previous survey of holiday shoppers found that 30 percent said they “plan to spend less” this holiday season than in years past.

“All of our indications suggest that consumers will shop, but be more cautious in their approach,” said Marshal Cohen, NPD’s chief industry analyst. “The study’s results show consumers will be doing their homework a bit more carefully this year.”

Modern Die-cast Airplanes Favored by more Collectors

Modern jet fighters and helicopters will continue to grow in importance as these people retire and these planes become a part of their past.”
